Meet the Maker

Hello, and thanks for stopping by! My name is Katherine (Kat) and I am the owner and creator behind Ocean Fern. My focus as a creator is sterling silver jewelry, hand knotted crystal jewelry, ceramics, art prints, and stickers. I absolutely love to experiment with and learn different art mediums as well. There is always something fun to learn!

I have been making art for as long as I can remember and I even went to school for it too! I graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelors in Studio Art and I also have an Associates in General Business and Social & Behavioral Science from Sierra College.

As a creator and a nature lover, a lot of my inspiration comes from the outdoors and learning to rethink how we interact with nature and our environment. I’m always looking for new ways to reuse and reduce waste in my art practice & studio. Taking the time to research and find new ideas and solutions to my work for a more sustainable future and way of life is very important to me. 

When I am not creating art & jewelry, you can find me anywhere outdoors, hiking & camping with my boyfriend and pup, reading a book, gardening, hanging with my family and friends, or simply sitting outside and enjoying the fresh air. 

I really love when I get the chance to slow down and appreciate the little things.
